Recently Divorced Father

Having gone through a divorce recently, I was seeking some help in “starting over”. I needed to figure out how to move on as a single dad, and wanted some guidance on how to help my children deal with the break up of their parents. I was thrilled when I found Pace, especially since they could accommodate my need for evening or weekend appointments. Andrew made me feel comfortable and welcome from the beginning. My preconceived notion about therapy being a bit hokey was immediately put to rest on my first visit.  I am grateful for the skills I have learned, and the newfound hope I have about this next phase of my life.

Anxiety Counseling for 11 year old boy

I was anxious about our first meeting at Pace because I wasn’t sure if my son was old enough to benefit from counseling. But within a few visits, I saw a difference. My son was starting to use some of the tools he learned to deal with anxiety and his self-confidence has improved tremendously. I would encourage any parent wondering if counseling is right for their child, to take the leap. My only regret is not doing so sooner.

Young Adult Anxiety

At the end of my senior year of high school I began to feel overwhelmed with emotions and anxiety about going off to college, and wasn’t sure what to do about it. On top of the stress of moving out of my home of 18 years and into a dorm with total strangers, I began to have serious thoughts about being able to adjust to college life. My mom reached out to PACE Counseling, and I quickly began seeing a counselor. My counselor at Pace was a voice of stability and support for my parents and me. Not only did he address some unresolved emotions I had about high school, but he also coached me on how to manage the transition from living at home to living on a college campus; something my high school never prepared me for. – A&M University Student

Mother of 3 teenagers

I started working with Pace Counseling to address some family conflicts we were experiencing. I soon realized that my own childhood provided little guidance on how to parent. I thought I was doing all of the things I should to raise successful children. However, my over-parenting was part of the problem. With their help, I learned how to stop hovering over my children, and start parenting them in a way that was age-appropriate. To say our family relationships have improved would be an understatement! We continue to be a work in progress, but I am so thrilled with what we have accomplished thus far. – Helicopter Parenting

Mother 12 year old daughter

I contacted Pace to help me develop some guidelines for Internet and Social media use for my middle school child. I was worried about all that I didn’t know and found conflicting advice on managing your children’s technology use. Within a few visits, I was able to talk through my concerns and develop a realistic plan for not only monitoring social media use but how to stay connected to my child through these important years. – Social Media Monitoring

Managing the Demands of Being a Mom

As the mother of three boys, I have struggled with the feeling that I have to be all things to all people.  I have often found myself feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, and worried if I was doing any of it right.  By working with Pace, I was able to unravel the many sources of my stress and anxiety, including a family history of neglect, abuse, alcoholism, and drug addiction.  The counsel I have received from Pace has been a source of guidance, wisdom, and, more than anything, a voice of calmness and reason during the stormy times in my life.  Their staff has been a source of healing and support for more than 10 years. – Mother of 3 Boys
